Dog Nutritionist / Blogger for K9 Instinct
Angel is a certified Animal Care Technician and an Animal Nutritionist (graduate with honours via Sheridan College), specializing in dog nutrition, training and behaviour. Her knowledge and experience were forged over a lifetime of working closely with animals and professionals in the animal care industry, on top of a solid foundation in post-secondary education. Angel also spent approximately 5 years training shelter dogs, specifically handling dogs with issues, at the K-W Humane Society in Ontario, Canada.
Angel spent over 9 years studying captive and wild wolves in northern Ontario as a hobby under the guidance of a reputable wolf biologist, and it was there that she learned everything she knows about the instinctual diet and the dietary needs of all canines - domesticated and wild. Her knowledge expanded from there as Angel went on to study animal care, canine nutrition, dog training, dog behaviour, wolf biology as well as general animal biology and genetics. Once she was introduced to raw feeding for pets and made the connection between the ancestral diet of all carnivorous canines and the identical dietary needs of our pet dogs, she became an ambassador for raw food diets and in the recent 4 years has begun extended in depth study and research on raw feeding.
Angel shares her life with her supportive husband and her two beloved German Shepherd dogs, Hunter and Zenna [vom Geistwasser]. Angel actively trains with her dogs in the dog sports of IPO (Schutzhund), competitive obedience, dock diving and lure coursing. Angel's dog Hunter is also a trained Wildlife Control K9 for the Region of Waterloo International Airport.
Angel has contributed articles to the Animal Wellness magazine and the Canadian Dogs Annual magazine.
