These delicious homemade, grain-free pumpkin pie dog cookies smell incredible! Baking these tasty dog treats will surely fill your home with the delightful aroma of pumpkin and cinnamon.

This recipe is grain free, making it perfect for dogs with grain allergies or a grain sensitivity. In this dog treat recipe I use nutritious coconut flour, which is great for your dog's skin and coat health. Feel free to substitute the coconut flour with whole wheat flour, arrowroot flour, oat flour, rice flour or potato flour if that is your preference!

Picture
INGREDIENTS
  • 1 cup of coconut flour
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of raw honey
  • 3/4 cup of pure pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 cup of smooth peanut butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

Picture
DIRECTIONS
  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a large bowl mix the pumpkin puree, eggs, honey, peanut butter and cinnamon.
  3. Add the coconut flour and stir it in very well.
  4. Shape your cookies to your liking, place on a cookie sheet lined in parchment paper. (Adjust based on thickness of the cookies)
  5. Bake for 20-25 minutes.

My favourite way to shape these cookies is in small bite-sized balls, but I also make them in small flat cookie shapes as well as shapes using cookie cutters.  Depending on the thickness of your cookies you may need to leave them longer in the oven. 20-30 minutes will suffice for thicker cookie shapes. The center of these cookies should be moist, though! A crunchier outer layer with a soft center makes for a drool-worthy cookie!

I am assuming that cinnamon is safe for dogs to consume since it is included in the recipe. I already have coconut flour so I will try this out.

Cinnamon is great for dogs. It regulates blood sugar , is anti inflammatory and anti fungal. It helps with stiffness in joints and those yeast infections some dogs get in their ears and paws

Hi
I am Vegan and don't have eggs in the house. I just added a bit of water to replace the eggs with (I have egg replacer, but our dog (black lab rescue) has a lot of digestive issues and wasn't sure if I should try that for him). I will next time. Dogs with digestive issues - I use slippery elm, you can also add this to your batter. We are sharing our dog's birthday with him, it's his first with us, but he turned 9 years old today. We've only had him 10 months. I'll let you know how he likes them :)
peace'n love

Have you tried aquafaba in place of eggs. Google it. It's the liquid that chickpeas and beans are packed in. Save it when you drain the beans. Good vegan sub for eggs

Hi Allison, what form of the slippery elm do u use ? pill , liquid etc.And how much ? I have a cocker spaniel that constistanly has very soft or loose stools, He very often had mucous or just all blood stools. He's been tested at the vets, they can't find anything wrong. We switched his food, and put him on probiotics from the vet. It has really helped, but still has some problems. Am hoping maybe the elm will help further. Thanks !

These are in the oven for my little guys as I type! I used a combination of flours (about 2/3 c rice flour and 2/3 c potato starch flour...it absorbs the liquid a little differently) that I stock for gluten free baking/cooking as I was out of coconut flour...the little dogs, well, they are sitting in the kitchen waiting for their treats to finish baking (they know they are for them!). Thank you for sharing!

Any suggestions for a peanut butter replacement to this recipe? I'm severely allergic to peanut butter, and I can't feed my dogs anything with peanut butter because if they lick me, I will have a horrible reaction. :(

Hey Laura-- as with any recipe (dog or otherwise) PB can be replaced with any type of nut butter. Almond is out for pups (bad for digestion) as is walnuts, macadamia, etc. cashews are VERY healthy for pups, so buy cashew butter. You can find in online or at a local co op or whole foods market.

My dogs LOVE these : ) I bake them in a ball, then after 15 minutes, I smash them down with a wooden spoon and cook for additional 10-15. Come out perfectly. Bought my coconut flour at Wal-Mart.

I bake my treats the required time, then turn the oven down very low to 200 and continue dehydrating until they are crispy.

I have managed to make these "Crunchy" by putting them in my dehydrator after baking and cooling them down!
My Diva likes the softer ones too, but she really goes for them crunchier!
I have a Nesco dehydrator with the fan, andit takes just 3 to 4 hrs and I keep them in a container on the table. The soft ones I keep in the fridge.

They don't have to be refrigerated if kept in air tight container up to 1 week.

for anyone wondering sunbutter works well as a nut safe alternative to peanut butter but it may be a little oilier and sometimes when baked your treats can be green( never happened to me but others have reported) i do many treats and service projects with my students so we had to find nut safe options. hope it's helpful.

My puppy loves these! The dough is a little hard to work with so I bought a cookie press and now I can make them in lots of cute little shapes! I'm giving these to friends with dogs for the holidays!! One question - how long have you all found that these stay fresh?

I just want to say Thank You to everyone who supported me through the years. My name is Manuel Franco, New Berlin, Wisconsin. My story of how I won the Powerball lottery of $768.4M is a bit of a tale. I have been playing Powerball tickets for 6 years now since I turned 18. I bought my first ticket on my 18 birthday. I was feeling very lucky that day because I had contacted Dr. Odunga Michael to help me with the winning Powerball numbers. I really had that great great feeling that I looked at the camera wanting to wink at it. I only did a tiny part of it and trusted him. He gave me the numbers after I played a couple other tickets along with it for $10. I checked my ticket after the winnings came online and saw the numbers were correct including the Power play. I screamed for about 10 minutes because it felt like a dream. I had won $768.4M. You can check my winning testimony with the lottery officials just with my name search. Thank you Dr Odunga.
